“Love Is In The Air Now; Protect Your Family Business Later”

On Valentine’s Day, we focus on those we love by buying chocolates and flowers, making dinner reservations, visiting Hallmark, or planning a romantic trip. The thought that things may not work out with the love of your life may have never crossed your mind… but, especially for business owners, it should. Relationships, whether personal or business, require work. Many business owners feel just as married to their businesses as they do to their spouses and devote time, energy, and effort to nurturing both relationships. No one enters a marriage contemplating divorce, just as no one starts a business expecting failure, but failing to plan for such events may have grave repercussions for a family business owner. During this webcast, we will focus on some critical steps for business owners to take in planning for their marriages to ensure that if the personal relationship ends, the business is spared from involvement.

Why Attend?
With statistics showing that at least half of all marriages end in divorce, married family business owners need to engage in appropriate planning to ensure that, in the unfortunate event that a divorce occurs, the family business remains intact.

Who Should Attend?
All business owners, whether currently married, engaged or single.

Areas of Interest
Critical legal planning for marriages for business owners to ensure the business does not get entangled in a divorce.

The need for fact-based reporting of issues important to multi generational businesses and protecting a lifetime of savings has never been greater. Now more than ever, multi generational businesses and family businesses are under fire. That’s why Family Enterprise USA is passionately working to increase the awareness of issues important to generationally-owned family businesses built on hard work, while continuing to strengthen our presence on Capitol Hill. The issues we fight for or against with Congress in Washington DC include high income tax rates , possible elimination of valuation discounts, increase in capital gains tax , enactment of a wealth tax , and the continued burden of the gift tax , estate tax and generation skipping tax .

Family Enterprise USA promotes generationally owned family business creation, growth, viability, and sustainability by advocating for family businesses and their lifetime of savings with Congress in Washington DC.  Since 2007, Family Enterprise USA has represented and celebrated all sizes, professions and industries of family-owned enterprises and multi-generational employers.
